DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a system for checking the authenticity of an email message using a digital signature. When DKIM is activated for a certain domain, a public cryptographic key is published to the global Domain Name System and a private one is stored on the email server. If a new message is sent, a signature is issued using the private key and when the message is delivered, the signature is ‘scanned’ by the POP3/IMAP server using the public key. In this way, the receiver can easily discern if the email is legitimate or if the sender’s email address has been spoofed. A discrepancy will occur if the content of the email message has been changed in the meantime as well, so DomainKeys Identified Mail can also be used to make sure that the sent and the delivered email messages are identical and that nothing has been added or removed. This validation system will heighten your email safety, since you can verify the genuineness of the important emails that you receive and your partners can do likewise with the emails that you send them. Based on the given mail service provider’s policies, an email that fails the examination may be erased or may enter the recipient’s mailbox with a warning notification.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Shared Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is activated by default for all domain names that are hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud servers, so you will not need to do anything yourself to enable it. The sole requirement is that the particular domain should be hosted in a hosting account on our end using our NS and MX records, so that the e-mail messages will go through our email servers. The private cryptographic key will be generated on the server and the TXT resource record, which includes the public key, will be published to the global DNS system automatically, so you won’t have to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this option. The DomainKeys Identified Mail validation system will allow you to send out trustable e-mails, so if you are sending offers or a newsletter to clients, for instance, your emails will always reach their target viewers, while unsolicited 3rd parties will not be able to forge your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is included by default with any domain name that’s registered through a semi-dedicated server account with us. The domain must also use our name servers, so that its DNS resource records are managed by our system. The latter makes it possible for a special TXT record to be created, which is actually the public key that confirms if a certain email message is authentic or not. This record is created when a new domain name is registered in an account via the Hepsia Control Panel and at the same time, a private key is created on our mail servers. If you use our email and web hosting services, your email messages will always reach their target destination and you will not have to worry about unsolicited individuals using your addresses for spamming or scamming purposes, which is something very important if you use emails to get in touch with your business allies.
